BART Closures between OAK and San Francisco: August 1st-2nd and September 5th-7th (Labor Day Weekend)
There will be no Transbay BART train service between West Oakland and Embarcadero stations on the weekends of August 1-2 and September 5-7 (Labor Day Weekend) while BART maintenance crews perform vital repairs to improve track safety.
Travelers going to/from Oakland International Airport (OAK) from the East Bay can take BART to/from OAK to any East Bay BART station except West Oakland, which will be closed. Please allow extra time, even if not crossing the bay, for unforeseen delays.
Travelers going to/from OAK from San Francisco or the Peninsula, should plan to use another option than BART. BART will have a limited lifeline bus service in operation for people with no other transportation options. However, delays of at least 1 to 2 hours are expected. Buses will be crowded without room for luggage. And the bus service going East picks passengers up by the temporary Transbay Terminal, which means a two-block walk from Embarcadero Station, or a connection from Muni.
For alternative public transit options go to 511.org
for trip planning. Other Transbay options include AC Transit, Ferries, ride-sharing or shuttle services. Remember that roads will likely be more congested without BART service, especially on Labor Day weekend.
